The results of monitoring of wholesale prices for fruits and vegetables in Tajikistan show that there are practically no locally produced products on sale. Tajik peaches are already ending, so the market is mainly peach from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Despite the completely identical appearance, the wholesale price for a peach from Uzbekistan is about 1.12 dollars per kilogram, while the peach from Kyrgyzstan costs no more than 0.50-0.52 dollars per kilogram. The difference is explained by the fact that the Uzbek peach is sweeter, and the bone separates from it more easily.
The Uzbek peach entering the Tajik market is produced mainly in the Fergana Valley. The same peach comes from the Batken region.
In addition to peach, the market has a large selection of nectarines from Uzbekistan at a price of 0.72 to 1.12 dollars per kilogram. At the same time, local entrepreneurs are actively buying the best quality peaches and nectarines. They pledge them for storage in the hope of obtaining a higher price for products in a few weeks, when the supply of fresh produce on the market will run out.
