For 10 months of 2019, Ukraine exported fruits, berries and nuts for a total of $ 191.9 million

These figures were record highs over the past 5 years and exceeded the volumes of the 2018 season by 9%. The dynamics of an increase in export deliveries of this group of goods has been observed for the past 4 years, reports FruitNews.

Most of the export deliveries of this product are nuts, of which 47.2 thousand tons were exported over a 10-month period totaling $ 86.4 million. The share of nuts amounted to 45% of the total cost of fruit products delivered abroad. The main importers of Ukrainian walnut are Turkey, Greece, France, Azerbaijan, Iraq, the Netherlands, Romania, Lebanon, Bulgaria and Germany. In terms of exported peeled walnut, Ukraine is one of the three world leaders, second only to the United States and Mexico.

However, this season, Ukrainian producers are forced to reduce the price of their products due to an increase in the supply of walnuts in the market. Many countries are now actively increasing the production and export of walnuts.

Also, a significant part of export revenue is accounted for by frozen berries, which for the 10 months of 2019 exported 41.7 thousand tons worth $ 71.2 million. Over the past 5 years, revenue from the supply of frozen Ukrainian berries abroad has increased almost 2 times. Such an increase in export deliveries in this segment is due to an increase in world consumption of berries. This applies to both frozen and fresh produce. The main importers of Ukrainian frozen berries remain EU countries such as Poland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia and France.

In the 10 months of 2019, 47.1 thousand tons of Ukrainian apples were exported, with a total value of $ 14.4 million. Compared to the same period in 2018, exports in real terms grew by 49%, and in value - by 33%. Last year for Ukraine was marked by a record harvest of apples in the country and amounted to 1.46 million tons. Part of the current supply is last year’s harvest apples, which Ukrainian producers sold in January-April 2019, because due to adverse weather conditions and the spread of scab, the gross harvest of apples in Ukraine in 2019 decreased by 10-15%. About 40% of apple export from Ukraine falls on Asian markets.
